SAM Architecture is a young office based in Peckham established by Sandi Johnen and Melanie Schubert.

Formed in 2013, we have already delivered a diverse body of work. From small residential, interior and furniture design projects to large commercial and master planning projects we do not like to limit ourselves to what we can play with. We love the really small projects just as much as the really big ones. Every project brings new challenges and that’s what we love about what we do.

Even though the scale might change, our abilities and methods do not. Our focus is on delivering unique projects that respond to their settings. Our design solutions are uncomplicated, cost-effective, functional and innovative; believing that rigorous research and good craftsmanship underpins our architecture. We work closely with our clients and other consultants to deliver projects of the highest quality to create environmentally efficient and beautifully orchestrated architecture.

We design enthusiastically, creatively and curiously, as we believe that this approach is essential to the development of exceptional design solutions. At the same time, we believe that thorough analysis and a clearly defined approach are integral parts of a successful design.

Melanie and Sandi both studied Architecture in Germany and Italy and have been working in London since 2000 for a variety of well known Architects such as David Chipperfield, Duggan Morris, Conran & Partners, AHMM and Grimshaw Architects.
