The project encompasses a full refurbishment of a large studio flat in the Barbican into a bespoke living arrangement.

The main design element is a full height joinery unit which has been inserted in the centre of the space to subtly organise and respond to the surrounding functions. Translucent curtains offer further flexibility to choreograph the space dependent on the activity. To maintain the feeling of openness and free flow the design language has been kept consistent across the whole apartment using a restraint material and colour palette, distinct from the original features such as the mahogany framed full height windows. However sometimes traces of the existing are woven into the new design such as the internal mahogany linings of the joinery items.
